This is finally your chance to speak out!

This Monday from 4 to 7 pm there will be a public meeting at which RIPTA and the consultants hired to select a location and plan a new central hub in Providence will present the sites under consideration and invite public feedback.  The meeting will take place at the “AMP” (formerly the “DUNK”).  Come anytime between 4 and 7pm.

In an effort to make this event as accessible as possible, translators will be on-site to support participants who speak Spanish and Portuguese, along with a sign language interpreter to assist those who are deaf or hard of hearing.  Child-friendly activities will be offered, as well as pizza and healthy snacks.

Tell RIPTA and its partners which of the proposed locations for a new bus hub YOU prefer, which ones you strongly oppose, or whether you think the hub should remain in Kennedy Plaza!

Don’t miss this opportunity to be heard!

Here is RI Transit Riders’ position:

While RI Transit Riders strongly opposes Parcel 35 (the “Siberian option”) as a new location and would prefer to stay in a cleaned-up Kennedy Plaza with better amenities, we would consider another location if it met riders’ needs for convenience and safety.

However, we would only support spending money for the construction of a new hub AFTER the state commits to increasing RIPTA’s funding significantly enough to substantially improve service.  Passengers want greater frequency of buses, not a new hub!
