Basic Rider Needs

Since our founding, RI Transit Riders has been fighting to address the fundamental needs of RIPTA riders. We want each and every rider to feel that RIPTA is comfortable, accessible, and accommodating of their needs. Among these efforts, we were successful in advocating for the removal of snow from bus shelters. We also successfully advocated for bike racks to be attached to full size buses at no extra cost to passengers with bikes. RI Transit Riders has also been working towards improving amenities for passengers at various busing locations, including Newport Gateway Center, which has seen massive redevelopment, and we are continuing to fight to maintain amenities at the relocated Pawtucket train hub. While we have been unsuccessful thus far in getting the City & RIPTA to reopen the bathrooms at the Kennedy Plaza Terminal Building since the outbreak of COVID19, we are continuing to demand that they reopen.

If you have any concerns about your experience riding RIPTA, large or small, please feel free to reach out and let us know, there’s still much work to be done!
