Stop the Unfair Fare Hikes!
RITR is committed to maintaining the accessibility of RI public transit. One of the organization’s largest points of advocacy has been the preservation of affordable fares for all transit users. In 2016, RIPTA’s Board of Directors sought to increase the $2 base fare for all riders. In addition, they proposed an end to the no-fare pass program for low-income elderly and disabled riders, and suggested a $1 fare in replacement of the program. As of now, thanks to the advocacy of riders and allies, RIPTA fares have not increased, and the no-fare pass program remains intact.
